An exciting opportunity has presented itself to join the Brisbane Field Services team as a Field Engineer working on the nbn network. The Field Services (FS) team delivers field workforce capabilities across all nbn technologies, encompassing service activation, network assurance and maintenance, quality inspection activities, and the management of customer complaints associated with network faults.
Based in Brisbane, your role as a Field Engineer requires you to represent nbn’s Field Services team across all field‑based assurance activities spanning all nbn network technologies, including FTTx, HFC, Fixed Wireless and Satellite. You will be responsible for support, integration, augmentation, field audits, connect quality, and Delivery Partner quality activities across nbn and the services connected to the network. You will provide high‑level field support involving travel, scheduled after‑hours activities as part of a dedicated night works roster, participation in an on‑call roster, and responding to after‑hours call‑outs. This role involves field investigations and network assurance, maintenance, and fault rectification for equipment and systems across all nbn technologies. Responsibilities include the identification, rectification, and maintenance of network issues, providing on‑site technical support, and probing early network faults to ensure ongoing network integrity and performance.
The ideal candidate would have a technical background, preferably with robust network assurance expertise in one or more nbn technologies like Ethernet, DWDM, GPON, or HFC. Experience in outside plant/inside plant construction across Fibre or HFC networks would be advantageous. This technical proficiency, combined with a strong background in network assurance, would be highly beneficial for this role. You will demonstrate strong problem‑solving skills with a disciplined and methodical approach. The role requires the ability to learn rapidly, remain flexible, and manage conflicting priorities. You will be a highly organised team player who can adapt to a changing and dynamic work environment.
We are interested in transferable skills and your skills and perspective could be exactly what we would value to strengthen our team.
