In this hands-on, customer-focused role, you’ll be helping connect homes and communities, making a real difference every day. We're looking for people in the NSW South Coast area; around Ulladulla, Batemans Bay, Narooma, Bega & Eden.
As a Customer Field Technician, you’ll work independently to complete a variety of tasks across different nbn technologies. Your work will include installations, repairs, maintenance, and supporting customers in their homes or businesses. Your day might involve installing copper or fibre cabling, setting up customer equipment, identifying and fixing faults, and ensuring customers feel supported and informed throughout the process. Working hours are between 7am and 7pm, with flexibility based on business needs. You’ll receive full training, all required tools, and ongoing support so you feel confident and set up for success. Safety is a fundamental part of this role—whether you're handling equipment, working in customers’ premises, or completing technical tasks, you’ll be expected to consistently apply safe work practices and follow nbn’s safety procedures.
Previous experience in telecommunications isn’t needed — we’ll teach you everything you need to know. What matters most is that you enjoy hands-on work, like solving problems, and feel comfortable speaking with customers. You might come from a trade, a hands-on technical job, or a customer-focused role. Experience in fields like plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, labouring, construction, mechanical work, hospitality, or manufacturing is highly valued. You’ll do well in this role if you enjoy working independently, managing your workload, and taking pride in delivering quality work. A strong commitment to safety, clear communication skills, and a current, clean Driver’s Licence are essential.
The preferred candidate will be required to undertake a Criminal History Check and a Pre-Employment Medical Assessment to assess their ability to perform the genuine occupational requirements of the position. To be eligible for this role, you must have full working rights in Australia.
At nbn, you’ll work with inspirational leaders and innovators in their field, help take on engaging and exciting work, and seek original solutions to new challenges every day. Things move quickly at nbn, and opportunities present themselves all the time. At nbn, you have an incredible chance to broaden your skills and widen your horizons. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to accelerate your career, and shape your own future, along with Australia’s.
To be part of nbn is to be part of something bigger. There’s so much more from here. Our pioneering spirit drives us forward every day. Together, we help lift the digital capability of the nation by building and connecting Australia’s best fibre infrastructure into homes and businesses, plus places and things, everywhere.
