NB Trades and Services is seeking an experienced Refrigeration Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis in Toowoomba, QLD. This is a pivotal position within our technical operations, where you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning systems for our diverse clientele. As a Refrigeration Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of cooling systems across commercial and industrial applications, directly contributing to our reputation for excellence and customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities:
- Install, service, and repair refrigeration and air conditioning systems for commercial and industrial clients with a large focus on Supermarkets and large cold store environments.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in cooling systems using specialised diagnostic equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and preventative servicing to ensure optimal system performance.
- Conduct system inspections and provide detailed reports to clients regarding system condition and recommendations.
- Test refrigeration systems for leaks, pressure levels, and overall functionality.
- Replace faulty components including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and refrigerant lines.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and environmental standards when handling refrigerants.
- Maintain accurate records of all work completed and materials used.
- Liaise with clients to understand their cooling requirements and provide technical advice.
- Respond promptly to emergency repair calls and provide out-of-hours support when required.
What we're looking for:
- Trade qualification or certification in refrigeration and air conditioning (such as Certificate III or IV in Refrigeration).
- Minimum of 3-5 years' hands-on experience in refrigeration and air conditioning installation and repair.
- Strong knowledge of refrigeration principles, thermodynamics, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic and testing equipment specific to refrigeration systems.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with the capacity to work independently and make sound technical decisions.
- Valid Australian driving licence and access to reliable transport.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces and at heights if required.
- Strong communication skills and a professional approach to customer interactions.
- Willingness to undertake ongoing professional development and stay current with industry developments.
Preferred:
- Experience with commercial kitchen refrigeration, industrial cold storage systems, or vehicle air conditioning.
