Aged Care Trainer & Assessor / Part-Time / Contract
National College of Vocational Education - Wollongong NSW
We're not a big corporate machine. NCVE is a family-run RTO that has been training people across the Illawarra and South Coast for more than 25 years, and we've built our reputation on small classes, trainers who actually know their students, and fast, friendly support.
Aged care is the heart of what we do. We train the support workers who care for people's parents and grandparents, so we need trainers who've done the job, love the sector and want to pass it on properly.
About the role
Come and train the next generation of aged care and disability support workers. You'll deliver and assess the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability), running small face-to-face classes in Wollongong and Sydney and giving our online students across Australia one-on-one support by video and phone.
It's part-time / contract with flexible scheduling, so it's ideal if you want regular training days alongside clinical work, or a step out of the floor without leaving the sector you love.
What you'll be doing
- - Running engaging, hands-on classes for small groups of career-changers, school leavers and people returning to work
- - Supporting online students one-on-one, so they get a real trainer and not a call centre
- - Assessing students to the standard, including workplace and work placement assessment
- - Keeping your assessment records accurate and audit-ready, with plenty of support from our admin and compliance team
- - Staying current in your industry practice and credentials
What you'll bring
- - TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or TAE40116 with a commitment to upgrade). This is essential.
- - Cert III Individual Support or higher, such as EN, RN, or Cert IV Ageing Support or Disability
- - Recent hands-on experience in residential aged care, home care and/or disability support
- - Solid knowledge of person-centred care, infection control, WHS and the Aged Care Quality Standards
- - A warm, confident delivery style. You can make a nervous first-timer feel like they belong.
- - Comfortable teaching online (Teams/Zoom) and using a student management system
- - Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willing to obtain one) and a National Police Check
- - Own reliable transport and a valid NSW driver's licence
Why you'll like working here
- - Flexibility: you choose training days that fit around your life and other work
- - Small classes, so you actually get to teach, not just crowd-manage
- - We handle the admin, enrolments and chasing, so you can focus on training
- - A work mobile, because our students get their trainer's direct line and we back you to give great support
- - Regular, ongoing work. Aged care is our core program, not a one-off contract.
- - A friendly, experienced team that's quick to help and easy to work with
- - Meaningful work: every student you sign off is another skilled carer in the community
