Who are we? National Carbon Bank of Australia (NCBA) works with businesses across Australia's renewable energy and energy efficiency markets to help make sustainable technologies more commercially accessible. We participate in government energy efficiency and renewable energy schemes and work across technologies including battery energy storage, cooling and air conditioning, hot water, lighting and other energy-saving solutions.
As the energy market continues to evolve, so does our business. We're looking to strengthen our technical and commercial capability so we can continue identifying new opportunities, solving problems for our clients and developing services that respond to changing technologies and market needs.

You will work closely with our Business Development and Operations teams to identify and develop new business opportunities, build relationships across the industry and provide the technical credibility required to support complex commercial discussions.
This isn't a traditional sales role. We're looking for someone who understands the technical realities of energy projects and can use that knowledge to identify opportunities, understand client challenges and develop practical solutions that create value for both our clients and NCBA. You'll also become a trusted technical resource across the business, helping us navigate complex projects, assess technical and compliance risks and strengthen our internal capability as we grow.
Key responsibilities: In this role, you will:
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across BESS and other relevant energy technologies.
- Build strong relationships with prospective and existing clients, industry partners and other key stakeholders.
- Work alongside Business Development to progress opportunities, providing technical expertise and credibility throughout client and commercial discussions.
- Provide practical technical guidance across complex, high-value and strategically important projects.
- Assess technical, eligibility and compliance risks and provide practical recommendations to support project and commercial decisions.
- Support the delivery of key client projects, working closely with Operations and other internal teams.
- Identify emerging market opportunities, client needs and potential new services or solutions for NCBA.
- Strengthen NCBA's technical and commercial capability through industry knowledge, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
We offer:
- A flexible work environment supporting working-from-home opportunities as well as increasing paid non-workdays off (Wellness Days) as service milestones are met.
- A generous performance-based bonus opportunity.
- Participation in our annual profit-share employee incentive program.
- Paid public transportation incentive program.
- A collaborative and supportive working environment with a team passionate about the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector.
- The opportunity to work across emerging technologies and a rapidly evolving area of Australia's energy market.
- The opportunity to have genuine influence over the development of NCBA's technical and commercial capability.
- A leadership team with decades of experience across environmental and renewable energy markets.
- Opportunities for continued personal and professional development as the role and business grow.
What we are looking for: We're looking for someone who combines technical credibility with commercial curiosity. Someone who has a strong understanding of renewable energy projects but also naturally looks for opportunities, builds relationships and thinks about how technical expertise can create value.
You will ideally bring:
- Relevant engineering, technical or industry qualifications and/or demonstrated equivalent industry experience, is essential. Business or commercial qualifications would be an advantage.
- A minimum of 3 years’ relevant industry experience within the energy, engineering, manufacturing or related sectors.
- Strong technical and practical experience across commercial energy projects, with BESS experience highly regarded.
- An understanding of working within regulated or compliance-driven environments.
- Demonstrated experience developing client relationships and identifying or supporting new business opportunities.
- A commercial mindset and confidence participating in business development and client conversations.
- Strong project management capability, including experience coordinating multiple technical and commercial stakeholders.
- The ability to assess complex projects, identify technical and compliance risks and exercise sound professional judgement.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A proactive and self-directed working style. You see opportunities and act on them rather than waiting for highly prescribed direction.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who can bring together the technical and commercial sides of the energy industry. With an understanding of what clients are trying to achieve, identifying where NCBA can add value and helping turn those opportunities into successful long-term partnerships.
If this sounds like you and you'd like to have a confidential chat, we'd love to hear from you!
How to Apply: Please submit your application through SEEK.
