An exciting opportunity has become available for an Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join the Depot and Fleet section of Forbes Shire Council. Reporting directly to the Workshop Foreman, the aim of this position is to assist the Workshop staff in providing effective and efficient maintenance and repair of Forbes Shire Council fleet of vehicles and mechanical plant, ensuring a safe and sustainable fleet for the Shire.
Working both independently and as part of the Workshop Team, you will work to achieve timely and appropriate outcomes on a diverse range of plant and equipment.
Essential
- Demonstrated interest in gaining Mechanical Trade Qualifications in a Certificate III Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology;
- Demonstrated aptitude for learning and a moderate level of mathematics capability;
- Developed communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse stakeholder group;
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment to achieve goals;
- Possess SafeWork General Construction Induction Card (White Card);
- Drivers Licence applicable to age.
Desirable
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of Chain of Responsibility compliance in the Civil Construction industry and Local Government environment;
- Forklift ticket;

- Elevate work platform ticket;

- Basic welding experience/qualifications;
