At AWAHS, healthcare is more than treatment, itβs about connection, culture and community. Every day, our team works alongside Aboriginal people and families to improve health outcomes, close the gap and support stronger futures. We have built a proud reputation for delivering holistic healthcare to our community on the Border for many years.
You will be involved in a variety of family medicine including triage, health assessments, chronic disease care, preventative care and supporting patients through their healthcare journey. Working alongside GPs, nurses and a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will play an important role in care planning, referrals, procedures, wound care and health promotion.
This is a role where your clinical skills meet purpose. Where care goes beyond symptoms, and you play a key part in supporting whole-of-person wellbeing, mind, body and spirit.
The Role
We are looking for a motivated and community-focused Practice Nurse (RN) to join our team full-time for a 12-month contract, with the potential to extend. In this role you will:
- Be the first point of support for clients, coordinating urgent GP appointments and managing waitlists with empathy and professionalism
- Work collaboratively with GPs, allied health and external providers to ensure clients receive seamless, quality care
- Provide hands-on nursing support including wound care, diagnostic procedures, chronic disease management and health assessments
- Assist with medication management and initial emergency presentations
- Support health promotion and preventative programs across all ages, from children to Elders
What We Are Looking For
We would love to hear from you if you are:
- An AHPRA Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years post graduate experience
- Skilled in wound management, chronic disease care and health assessments
- Passionate about health promotion, prevention and community wellbeing
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, team environment where collaboration matters
- Strong interpersonal skills, integrity and excellent time management
- Understanding of health issues impacting Aboriginal people
Why You Will Love Working With AWAHS
- Meaningful work: Make a genuine difference in the lives of Aboriginal families and communities
- Attractive benefits: Salary packaging of up to $15,900 tax-free, plus superannuation
- Supportive team: Inclusive culture, professional development, supervision and EAP access
- Career growth: Opportunities to develop your skills and progress your career through training and internal opportunities
- Progressive organisation: Contribute to an expanding service with a new health precinct underway in Wodonga
This is more than a nursing role, it is an opportunity to be part of something meaningful, surrounded by a team that values care, connection and culture. If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.
