MSJ Australia is seeking an empathetic and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team in Townsville, QLD. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals with disabilities, helping them to achieve their personal goals and live independently. This is a casual position, offering flexible work arrangements to suit your lifestyle.
What you'll be doing:
- Assisting clients with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks
- Accompanying clients to appointments, social activities, and community events
- Facilitating and encouraging client participation in recreational and educational programs
- Monitoring client progress and reporting any changes or concerns to the care team
- Advocating for client rights and ensuring their needs are met
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation as required
What we're looking for:
- Relevant experience in the disability or aged care sector, or a strong desire to work in this field
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients
- A compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to providing care
- Strong problem‐solving and decision‐making skills
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- A current Queensland driver's license and access to reliable car
- A demonstrated commitment to upholding the principles of dignity, respect, and choice for individuals with disabilities
