Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Cook to join our kitchen team at Marko's Greek Kitchen. Working alongside our Chef and wider kitchen staff, you will play a hands-on role in preparing and delivering high-quality Greek and Mediterranean dishes during busy service periods.
Key responsibilities:
- Preparing, seasoning and cooking a range of authentic Greek and Mediterranean dishes - including grilled meats, seafood and traditional mezze - in line with our recipes and quality standards.
- Checking the freshness and quality of ingredients before and during preparation.
- Regulating oven, grill and stovetop temperatures to ensure dishes are cooked correctly and consistently.
- Portioning and plating dishes, adding sauces, garnishes and accompaniments to presentation standards.
- Storing food correctly in temperature-controlled areas in line with food safety requirements.
- Preparing meals to accommodate special dietary requirements where needed.
- Assisting with menu planning and estimating food and ingredient requirements for service.
- Supporting and helping train junior kitchen staff as required.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe kitchen in line with hygiene regulations.
About you:
- Proven experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen, ideally within Greek, Mediterranean or similar cuisine.
- AQF Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to stay calm and efficient during high-volume service periods.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including evenings and weekends.
