Pre-Production Inspector in Sydney

At Big Box Cars, we’re all about preparing vehicles for sale properly, efficiently and to a highest standard. Based in Minto, our team works across inspection, preparation and production to make sure every vehicle is ready to hit the yard looking and performing as it should.

We are looking for a Pre-Production Inspector to join our team at Big Box Cars in Minto. You will be our go-to person for all things pre-production inspection and quality control, and more! Your role is to make sure every vehicle entering the production process is thoroughly inspected, the required work is identified, and accurate quotes are prepared before the vehicle moves to the next stage. In doing so, you’ll work closely with the Production team and other areas of the business to keep vehicles moving smoothly and efficiently through the preparation process and help ensure the cars we put in front of our customers meet the standard we expect.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out detailed pre-production vehicle inspections
• Identify mechanical, cosmetic and preparation work required
• Prepare accurate itemised quotes and cost estimates following each inspection
• Record and manage inspections and quotes through Rapid Recon
• Ensure each inspection is completed accurately before progressing to the next vehicle
• Work closely with the Production team to ensure vehicles move smoothly through the workshop and preparation process
• Assist with final vehicle quality checks
• Work collaboratively with other departments to help keep production moving
• Raise any issues or barriers that may impact vehicle preparation
• Maintain safe working practices and report workplace hazards or WHS concerns
• Assist with other duties as required to support the Production team

What we're looking for

You’ll be someone who enjoys working with cars, takes pride in getting things right and notices the things others might miss. Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience in vehicle inspection, automotive production, mechanical, detailing or a similar automotive environment
• Strong vehicle knowledge and the ability to identify faults and required repairs
• Excellent attention to detail
• The ability to work efficiently while maintaining a high level of accuracy
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well with different teams
• Confidence using technology and computer-based systems
• A practical, hands-on approach to solving problems
• Good organisational and time management skills
• A positive attitude and willingness to contribute to the wider team
• A strong commitment to workplace safety
• A current driver's licence
• Experience using Rapid Recon or a similar automotive inspection or workflow system would be highly regarded.
