A large enterprise is partway through a ground-up rebuild of its commercial offering in Australia, delivered by product-aligned agile squads. They need a Solution Architect to set the technical direction for the programme and ensure what gets built today still holds up in years to come.

You will work where business strategy meets technology, shaping the architecture behind the digital experiences used by customers and distribution partners across Australia and neighbouring markets. This is a hands-on influencing role, with real decisions being made now rather than a roadmap waiting to be funded.

What you will be doing:

  • Defining and maintaining the target-state architecture, reference patterns and design standards for the operations technology estate.
  • Leading build, buy or partner evaluations and ensuring each choice supports security, scale and commercial outcomes.
  • Working with senior business stakeholders at the earliest idea stage so technology direction is set well before delivery begins.
  • Assessing the solution designs produced by delivery squads, testing their assumptions and keeping them aligned to the agreed target state.
  • Contributing to a worldwide architecture network, trading ideas and pressure-testing approaches with peers in other regions.

What will set you apart:

  • Proven experience designing enterprise solutions end to end in a large, complex organisation.
  • Confidence challenging delivery teams constructively while still working as a partner to them.
  • A track record of influencing non-technical leaders and gaining buy-in on technology direction.
  • Comfort working in agile, product-led environments alongside product owners and engineers.
  • Beneficial but not essential: Certification such as TOGAF, AWS Solutions Architect or Azure Architect.
  • Knowledge of privacy obligations, data governance and secure-by-design principles, with a habit of building compliance in from the start.
  • Working knowledge of relational and non-relational databases (SQL, NoSQL, Oracle, MongoDB) and data integration tools such as Informatica or SSIS.
  • Exposure to omni-channel platforms, electronic communications or digital correspondence solutions in a large enterprise setting.

Why this role:

  • The programme is live and moving, so your input shapes outcomes straight away.
  • Decisions you make will carry weight across a large, multi-market business.
  • Architects sit alongside product and engineering colleagues rather than above them.
  • Regular exposure to a wider architecture community, so ideas formed in Sydney can travel further.
