About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a well-established, family‐owned engineering business to recruit a Senior Project Engineer for their Mackay operation.
The business specialises in the design, engineering and delivery of customised pumping systems, water treatment infrastructure and industrial water management solutions.
Their projects support a range of industries, including water and wastewater treatment, mining, industrial processing and infrastructure.
This opportunity would suit an experienced Electrical Engineer, Control Systems Engineer or Automation Engineer who has exposure to water treatment facilities, pumping stations or process engineering environments.
You''ll be involved in projects from initial design through to commissioning, working across electrical engineering, instrumentation, automation and multidisciplinary project delivery.
Beyond the technical responsibilities, there is a genuine opportunity to develop into an Engineering Management position.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage engineering projects from initial design through to commissioning and handover.
- Oversee electrical engineering, instrumentation, PLC/SCADA and automation requirements.
- Support the design and delivery of pumping stations, water treatment systems and associated infrastructure.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and process engineering.
- Review electrical drawings, control philosophies, technical specifications and engineering documentation.
- Provide technical input into equipment selection, pump control systems, motor control and instrumentation.
- Coordinate with clients, suppliers, contractors and internal project teams.
- Support commissioning, troubleshooting and system integration.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
About You
We''re looking for someone with a strong electrical and control systems background who understands how engineering systems come together in an operational environment.
Ideally, you''ll bring
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience in electrical design, control systems, instrumentation or automation.
- Strong knowledge of PLC/SCADA systems and industrial control applications.
- Exposure to water treatment plants, wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations or industrial water systems.
- Experience with pumps, motors, variable speed drives, motor control centres or associated electrical infrastructure.
- Experience delivering engineering projects from design through to commissioning.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- RPEQ registration or eligibility would be highly regarded.
Experience in water and wastewater treatment would be particularly valuable, especially if you''ve been involved in the electrical design, automation, upgrades or commissioning of treatment plants and pumping infrastructure.
However, we''re also interested in engineers from mining, industrial processing, manufacturing and other process-driven environments who can demonstrate transferable technical experience.
What''s on Offer?
- Join an established, family‐owned engineering business with a strong industry reputation.
- Work on customised pumping, water treatment and industrial infrastructure projects.
- Take ownership of projects from design through to delivery.
- Work alongside an experienced team of engineers, project managers and drafters.
- Genuine autonomy and the opportunity to influence engineering outcomes.
