About the role
The National Purchasing Coordinator supports centralised buying by coordinating the programming and movement of stock from direct growers and strategic suppliers into Morco Distribution Centres (DCs) nationally. The role is responsible for executing against established direct buyer lists, par levels and weekly supply requirements, ensuring orders are confirmed, stock movements are coordinated and inbound supply is tracked against plan. This is a practical execution and coordination role. It does not own supplier commercial negotiations, supplier relationship strategy, pricing decisions or state-based buying.
Key responsibilities
- Program orders with direct growers and strategic suppliers nationally in line with the approved direct buyer list. Confirm availability, quantities, delivery dates and relevant supply requirements.
- Maintain regular, professional communication with growers and suppliers regarding supply, quality and delivery timing.
- Ensure supplier commitments and changes are accurately recorded and communicated.
- Escalate commercial, pricing, contractual or relationship matters to the National Purchasing Manager.
- Coordinate stock movement from growers and suppliers into Morco DCs across Australia in line with agreed volumes, delivery windows and weekly supply requirements.
- Coordinate with relevant transport, logistics, warehouse and inventory teams to support timely receipt of stock.
- Monitor inbound stock and proactively identify delays, shortfalls, substitutions or oversupply.
- Execute purchasing requirements against established buyer lists and par levels.
- Work with Demand Planning / Inventory teams to understand current and forecast supply requirements.
- Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier and inbound stock records.
About you
- Previous experience in purchasing coordination, supply coordination, procurement administration, inventory, logistics or a similar operational role.
- Experience working with growers, suppliers, distributors, wholesalers or logistics providers; preferably within fresh produce, food, FMCG or a related supply chain environment.
- Experience coordinating orders, deliveries, stock movements or supplier commitments.
- Experience working to weekly supply plans, order cycles, volume requirements or inventory targets.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple suppliers, orders and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong organisation and time-management skills with the ability to work to a consistent weekly rhythm.
- High attention to detail and accuracy when managing orders, quantities, dates and supplier information.
- Clear and confident communication skills, particularly when following up supplier commitments and delivery requirements.
- Competent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Experience using ERP, purchasing, inventory, warehouse or supply chain systems.
