Working collaboratively across the organisation and under the leadership of the Coordinator Marketing, you will develop and deliver engaging marketing strategies, campaigns and activations that strengthen community connections and bring Council's offerings to life.

In this role, you will partner with business areas, with a current focus on Arts, Culture and Place, to develop effective marketing and communications plans, create compelling promotional content and ensure consistency across Council's brand and sub-brands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement marketing plans, strategies and activations to promote Council's services, programs, venues and initiatives.
  • Partner with Council business areas to identify marketing opportunities and deliver targeted campaigns that increase awareness, engagement and participation.
  • Develop marketing and communications plans, including creating compelling copy, sourcing imagery and preparing content for promotional materials.
  • Ensure consistent and effective application of Council's brand and sub-brands across marketing activities and collateral.
  • Produce promotional materials, including posters and flyers, using design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
  • Prepare creative briefs and collaborate with graphic designers and external suppliers throughout the production of marketing collateral.
  • Monitor and evaluate campaign effectiveness to inform future marketing activities and support continuous improvement.
  • Provide proactive advice and support to internal stakeholders on communications tools, marketing approaches and strategies to engage staff and the community.
  • Contribute to broader communications and public relations activities as required, including communication planning, assisting with live streaming of Council meetings and participating in a rotational on-call arrangement for media and social media enquiries on weekends and public holidays.

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree in marketing, public relations or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience, along with demonstrated experience delivering marketing campaigns and events and implementing complex marketing strategies.

You will have strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate multiple projects to meet deadlines and achieve objectives.

Your understanding of brand principles and their practical application will be complemented by experience developing engaging marketing content and promotional materials using contemporary design and publishing tools.

Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, as is the ability to build productive relationships with colleagues, senior management, Councillors, media representatives and external partners.

You will also bring a sound understanding of contemporary communications and media practices, including the ability to identify newsworthy, politically topical and sensitive issues, and to provide considered advice in a local government environment.
