The Research Nurse (Oncology) will play a vital role in advancing clinical research at Monash University, coordinating oncology clinical trials that contribute to improved understanding and treatment of cancer. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will combine your clinical nursing expertise with research coordination to deliver high-quality, participant-centred care, support the collection of robust research data and ensure trials are conducted safely, ethically and in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.

This position will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of clinical research trials, from participant recruitment, screening and informed consent through to trial visits, clinical assessments, ongoing monitoring and follow-up care. You will collect, analyse and maintain accurate research data, manage clinical trial records and databases, and provide education and support to participants throughout their involvement.

Working closely with investigators, hospital and clinical teams, pharmaceutical companies and external research partners, you will build strong stakeholder relationships and contribute to research administration, reporting and publications. You will also support the development of research procedures, quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring all activities comply with ethical, privacy, confidentiality, Good Clinical Practice and relevant regulatory requirements.

To be successful in this role you will have current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, alongside demonstrated clinical nursing experience in a relevant field, such as oncology or haematology. You will bring strong clinical assessment, problem-solving and care coordination skills, supported by excellent organisational abilities and the capacity to manage competing priorities.

An understanding of human research ethics, Good Clinical Practice, informed consent and clinical trial protocols is essential. You will demonstrate sound judgement, initiative and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, computer literacy, meticulous documentation practices and a clear understanding of patient confidentiality are also key.

Monash supports flexible and hybrid working arrangements. We have a range of policies in place enabling staff to combine work and personal commitments. This includes supporting parents. Today, we have the momentum to create the future we need for generations to come.

Diversity is one of our greatest strengths at Monash. We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culturally and linguistically diverse people, people with disabilities, neurodivergent people, and people of all genders, sexualities, and age groups.

Your employment is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of all pre-employment and background checks required for the role, as determined by the University.
