Role Description
The Intermediate Accountant will work closely with clients and internal team members to deliver high-quality accounting, taxation, and business advisory services. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing financial statements, managing bookkeeping and reconciliations, completing BAS, IAS, and tax returns, and assisting with tax planning and compliance activities. The role also involves reviewing work prepared by junior team members, supporting process improvements, and contributing to client communications and advisory discussions. This is a full-time hybrid role based in Parramatta, NSW, with a mix of in-office work and some work from home.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in financial reporting, general ledger management, and preparation of statutory accounts.
- Proficiency in taxation compliance, including income tax, GST, BAS/IAS, and effective tax planning strategies.
- Experience with accounting software and cloud-based systems (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks) and high comfort with technology-driven workflows.
- Ability to analyze financial data, provide business insights, and support clients with budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a client-centric approach and ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, or a related field; progress toward CPA or CA certification is highly regarded.
- Experience in a public practice or business advisory environment and a collaborative mindset to work effectively within a team.
