Mobility Plus is a leading Australian manufacturer of Custom-Built, Manual Wheelchairs. For 40 years now, our family-owned business has been manufacturing wheelchairs right here in Melbourne. This includes not just everyday wheelchairs but also wheelchairs used for sports and airlines. In addition, we are a national provider of Assistive Technology with divisions inpower assist & recreational devices, paediatric equipment, vehicle solutions and manual handling equipment.
The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity available to join our hardworking, friendly team that make up our very unique and rewarding workplace. We are seeking a skilled Fabricator and Welder, to work constructing our wheelchair frames. This is a full-time role based at our Fairfield manufacturing facility, working from 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welding of aluminium, titanium and some stainless-steel wheelchair frames from 25mm round tubing with a focus on an exceptionally neat finish ready for treatment/powder coating
- Welding of other accessories and bespoke custom items to be utilised as part of a custom wheelchair design
- Precise bending and cutting of 25mm round tubing
- Completing welding related assessment and repair of client’s wheelchair frames as required
- Interpret and work from factory drawings and verbal instructions
- Working autonomously while also working as part of a broader team within our manufacturing facility
- Other jobs within our manufacturing facility as required
Skills and criteria for the position include:
- A strong attention to detail
- Ability to work with angles, acute and obtuse
- Strong work ethic
- Creative lateral thinker and problem solver
- Experience working with Titanium, Aluminium and Stainless-Steel thin tubing
- Self-motivated with the ability to independently work without supervision
- Understanding the finish and quality required of the highly important application of our custom wheelchairs and the individuals who utilise them
