Member Engagement Officer

Enjoy connecting with people, keeping things organised and helping members get value from their membership? MITEZ is looking for a Membership Engagement Officer to join our team and support our work across the Mount Isa to Townsville corridor. MITEZ brings together local government, industry and businesses to support regional economic development. This varied role combines member engagement, communications, events and administration.

About the role

• Build relationships with members and coordinate onboarding, renewals and engagement.
• Help deliver membership benefits and recruitment and retention campaigns.
• Assist with coordinating member events and networking opportunities, including invitations, registrations, logistics and follow-up.
• Share member news and opportunities through social media, newsletters and other communications.
• Provide administrative support for member grant enquiries, documentation and follow-up.
• Assist with meetings, correspondence, diary management and travel arrangements.
• Travel along the Mount Isa to Townsville corridor as required to support member activities, events and engagement campaigns.

About you

You’re approachable, organised and comfortable working with a wide range of people. You bring strong communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a small team.

Selection criteria

• Member engagement and relationship management: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with members, customers or stakeholders, respond professionally to enquiries and support engagement and retention.
• Communication and content development: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare correspondence, member updates and content for newsletters, websites and social media.
• Event and meeting coordination: Experience supporting events, networking activities or meetings, including invitations, registrations, logistics, preparation of meeting materials and follow-up.
• Administration and recordkeeping: Strong administrative skills, with attention to detail in maintaining databases, coordinating documentation, tracking deadlines and following up actions. Experience supporting grant administration would be an advantage.
• Organisation, initiative and teamwork: Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and contribute to a small team, while exercising sound judgement and maintaining confidentiality.
• Digital skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence learning new systems. Experience with membership databases, email marketing platforms, social media publishing tools or Canva would be highly regarded.

Relevant qualifications or equivalent workplace experience, a current driver’s licence and availability to travel along the corridor are required.
