United by our Christian purpose and values, we advocate for a fairer Australia, to meet the growing needs of people across the country. Together we're building hope and possibility for all.
Your opportunity
A safe and secure home can create the foundation for a brighter future, and as Mission Australia Housing continues to grow, strong risk leadership will help ensure that growth is sustainable, well governed and delivers lasting impact. As our Senior Risk Business Partner, Housing, you will play an important role in supporting this ambition and ensuring growth is sustainable, well governed and delivers lasting community impact.
Working across housing growth projects, property development, Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) and the broader Housing Operations portfolio, you will translate complex project and portfolio risks, be a trusted second-line risk partner and provide clear and practical insights and advice to help senior leaders and governance bodies make informed decisions.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Lead risk assessments across Housing Growth projects, including development, construction, financial, regulatory and counterparty risks.
- Connect project due diligence with the operational and financial risks that will transfer into the Housing Operations portfolio following project completion.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive individual, and where appropriate aggregate, risk profiles for all Housing entities.
- Develop and maintain a consolidated view of risk across active Housing Growth projects and Housing Operations, identifying emerging issues, aggregate exposures and concentration risks.
- Support Management and Project Leaders to identify and manage emerging risks and opportunities across Growth, SPVs and Operations.
- Analyse how housing-related risks aggregate into Mission Australia's broader Enterprise Risk profile.
- Prepare high-quality risk reports, dashboards, briefings and Board papers that translate complex information into clear insights for senior leaders and governance bodies.
- Support Enterprise risk management initiatives as required.
Requirements for success
- Significant risk management experience (ideally 7 to 10 years) in enterprise, operational or project risk management, within property development, asset management, community housing and complex multi-entity environments.
- Tertiary qualifications in risk management, finance, business, property or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience assessing property development and project delivery risk across the full project lifecycle including transition into operations.
- Strong analytical, influencing and advisory skills, with the confidence to constructively challenge and provide credible risk advice to senior stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing concise, accessible reports, papers and recommendations for executives, committees and Boards.
- Demonstrated capability in enterprise risk aggregation, translating project, portfolio or subsidiary risks into clear organisational-level implications.
- Knowledge of contemporary risk management practices and standards, including ISO 31000, together with experience using risk and incident management systems with experience in Riskonnect or similar systems is highly regarded.
- Ideally, experience within Community Housing Provider operations and/or the not-for-profit housing sector, with an understanding of relevant regulatory frameworks such as the National Regulatory System for Community Housing.
- Experience working with SPVs or multi-entity structures, with a strong understanding of their governance, financial and risk implications is highly desired.
