About the role
As Senior Project Officer, you will support the development and implementation of best-practice workforce policy, governance frameworks, programs and projects across the Ministry of Health, public health organisations and related government agencies. You will play a key role in strengthening governance and assurance across Human Capital Management (HCM) systems and processes, supporting alignment with workforce policy, business requirements and organisational priorities.
Working with senior leaders and system-wide stakeholders, you will help identify and manage governance risks, clarify requirements and accountabilities, support robust decision-making, and monitor the effectiveness of HCM initiatives. You will also research emerging workforce issues and prepare clear, evidence-based advice on attraction, recruitment and retention. This is an opportunity to influence workforce policy, governance and HCM outcomes at statewide scale, while building your career in Australia's largest health organisation.
What you'll be doing
- Contribute to HCM system improvements through governance, requirements gathering, solution design, testing and evaluation, helping ensure changes align with workforce policy, business requirements and agreed governance processes.
- Support HCM governance processes by assessing system changes, issues and requirements, preparing advice and recommendations, and supporting informed decision-making.
- Manage policy and program development, project reviews and evaluations addressing workforce attraction, recruitment and retention.
- Prepare high-quality reports, briefs, policies, discussion papers and strategic advice for senior leaders and stakeholders.
- Engage public health organisations, government agencies and stakeholder representatives to support effective governance, planning and implementation.
- Lead quantitative and qualitative research, impact assessment and cost-benefit analysis to inform policy, governance and system decisions.
About you
- Experience implementing Human Capital Management systems in a complex, multidisciplinary environment.
- Demonstrated ability to translate policy and business requirements into effective technology solutions.
- Strong project management skills, including planning, risk management, stakeholder consultation and benefits-focused delivery.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Evidence-based problem-solving skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships across organisational boundaries.
