Covering some 183,198km2 of predominantly desert and pastoral country, the Shire Laverton has something for everyone, from spinifex plains, Mulga woodlands and unique granite rock outcrops to rich Aboriginal and European history and culture. The Shire's seat of government is the town of Laverton. Council is now seeking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer who will champion the Shire's vision in line with its values and culture.
The incoming CEO will understand the importance of developing strong relationships with all sectors of the local community, as well as government agencies and other key stakeholders. You will oversee the delivery of quality services and infrastructure to the Shire, and ensure the Council receives professional and timely advice on all matters relating to the Shire's administration and operations. Of paramount importance will be your ability to identify and act upon the critical requirements of remote and diverse regional communities.
With senior management experience in local government or relevant service-based organisations, your sound commercial acumen, strong leadership and financial management expertise will be complemented by a strategic focus, and strong passion for, and connection to regional areas. You will be an innovative and outward facing individual who will develop strong relationships with mining companies, be keen to be part of the community and make a difference. As a leader and communicator, your ability to inspire, engage and influence across staff, all stakeholders and the broader community will be critical to your success.
An attractive remuneration package in the range of $188,483 to $310,883 (plus up to $55,000 Regional Allowance) will be offered to the successful candidate on a 3 to 5 year contract. Comfortable accommodation in the form of a family home (plus utility subsidies) is provided together with a fully maintained motor vehicle.
