About the role
The cafe manager role at a Mile End cafe boils down to two things. Every customer who walks in gets a great experience, and you build a team that can deliver that experience to every customer, every time.
Most of your time is spent on the floor. You'll be assessing and holding our standards across every station so that customer experience is maintained, opening and closing the site, orientating and training new starters, and upskilling the team you've got.
Off the floor there's the operational side: hiring to meet upcoming staffing needs, building a roster against the sales forecast, managing your labour cost, your orders and pars, stock and waste. All of it exists to support delivering the best possible customer experience. Delicious bagels & coffee: fast, accurate and friendly.
We're looking for people who are excited to grow, love a challenge, and take full responsibility. Someone who holds their team to a high standard of service and gives them what they need to hit it.
What you'll be looking after

The customer experience, and the standard of every product served, across every shift

Hiring, onboarding and training your team to the standard your cafe needs

Developing the people who are ready for more, so you've got supervisors who can run shifts without you

Your roster, your labour cost, and how the cafe is tracking against its sales forecast

Stock, ordering, par levels and waste

The presentation, cleanliness and safety of the site from open through to close

Rostering and managing your team correctly under the Fast Food Industry Award
Who we're looking for
You've led a hospitality team somewhere busy, and you're confident being the person everyone looks to. You deliver hospitality in a way that feels warm and genuine, because the standard your team works to is always the standard you hold yourself to first.
Weekend trade is when our cafes are at their busiest, so you'll work at least one weekend day every week, and both if required.
