We currently have a position available for an experienced Diesel Mechanic in Warrnambool, Victoria. In this role, you will work alongside a team of skilled mechanical tradespeople to perform onsite maintenance, reporting to the Transport Manager. You will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing heavy vehicles, mobile plant, and equipment efficiently to ensure the business's operational requirements are consistently met.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform repair and maintenance of heavy vehicles and equipment in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
- Undertake detailed inspections of heavy vehicles and equipment, correct equipment deficiencies, and perform preventive maintenance on company-owned equipment.
- Identify and repair or report worn or failed components.
- Maintain accurate records (time, repair orders, and parts usage) on computer.
- Follow administrative procedures for completion of DVR's as instructed.
- Complete service forms, brake forms, and other paperwork accurately and legibly in accordance with company guidelines.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:
- Trade qualification as a heavy vehicle/diesel mechanic.
- Good mechanical aptitude with basic knowledge of welding and fabrication would be an advantage.
- Some experience within maintenance-related fields performing troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on compactors, containers, and related equipment is advantageous.
- Ability to troubleshoot and make repairs to basic wiring, control wiring, and hydraulic systems.
- You have the right to work in Australia.
- You must pass a drug & alcohol test and be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical if required.
