Michael Freedman Racing Pty Ltd are currently seeking highly experienced and capable staff to join their stable. Positions are full-time and available at Randwick, NSW.
The successful applicant/s must be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of industry best practice, with either international experience or a thorough understanding of the global trends of the thoroughbred industry.
Horse Trainer/2nd Foreperson:
- Plan and implement training regimes and feeding plans and reviewing and adjusting when necessary
- Training young thoroughbreds to be accustomed to race day events and procedures
- Re-educating horses to resolve problems such as biting, kicking and barrier issues.
- Advise head trainer on factors affecting horses and their education.
- Supervise horse feeding program to ensure optimum fitness and performance.
- Record all horse training data and ensuring accurate and up to date records are maintained for all veterinary, horse health and racing related activities.
- Attend race day events and performing all duties associated including travelling with horses, strapping at races and all care for the horses as required, including presenting horses to stewards
- Applicants must have a minimum of at least 3-year full time professional experience in the role
- Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred racing
- Proven ability to train and educate young horses
- Oral and written communication skills of a level to take instruction and provide information
- Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment
- Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of racehorses
- A Certificate III or IV or equivalent international qualification
Terms of Employment
The salary will be above award – in the range of $75,000 to $82,000 per annum depending upon the level of skill.
