Enforcement & Recoveries Officer in Sydney

Sydney Full-Time On-site
M

Meriton Group is seeking an Enforcement & Recoveries Officer to join our Private Lending team. Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll manage recoveries across a portfolio that includes mortgages and private loans. You’ll take ownership of each matter from initial default through to recovery of outstanding principal, interest and costs.

You’ll work with borrowers, guarantors and brokers to assess repayment options, including refinancing and voluntary sale. Where enforcement is required, you’ll coordinate the process from formal demand through to possession or receivership, sale of the secured property, settlement and close-out.

What you’ll do

  • Monitor the loan portfolio for arrears, expired facilities and other breaches, and review loan and security documents to confirm defaults.

  • Assess repayment and settlement proposals, verify funding and timelines, and coordinate formal arrangements to give borrowers additional time to repay where appropriate.

  • Instruct panel solicitors on notices, demands and enforcement proceedings, and coordinate searches and independent valuations.

  • Coordinate possession or receiver appointments and oversee asset protection, including site security, insurance and property outgoings.

  • Appoint selling agents, oversee sale campaigns, assess offers against valuations and market feedback, and coordinate settlement with solicitors.

  • Review payout figures, reconcile and distribute sale proceeds, and assess whether pursuing any shortfall is commercially justified.

  • Maintain the enforcement register, monitor external costs and report weekly to the General Manager on progress, next steps and expected recoveries.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in secured lending recoveries, credit enforcement, restructuring, insolvency or a related role.

  • Working knowledge of Australian laws and compliance obligations relevant to secured lending and enforcement, including default notices, possession, receivership and the sale of secured property.

  • Ability to interpret loan, security and guarantee documents, identify legal and compliance risks, and work with panel solicitors to confirm the appropriate enforcement steps.

  • A disciplined approach to compliance, including tracking statutory deadlines, following internal approval processes and keeping clear, audit-ready records of decisions.

  • Sound commercial judgement when assessing repayment proposals, enforcement costs and likely recovery outcomes.

  • Confidence negotiating with borrowers and guarantors and coordinating solicitors, receivers and selling agents.

Applicants must have the right to work full-time in Australia. The successful candidate will be required to provide a current National Police Check for employment purposes.
