The East Coast Medical Network is dedicated to training balanced, well-rounded and competent physicians. Vocationally based training is delivered across five locations along the spectacular East Coast of New South Wales. We support our trainees to reach their full potential through an interactive and individualised education program underpinned by the principles of opportunity, equity and fairness.
Our written education program complements the RACP's Physician Education Program and is delivered weekly during protected teaching time. Sessions focus on direct interaction with experts in their fields and are videoconferenced to all peripheral sites from the first week of training. All trainees are given the opportunity to attend a two-week revision course in the penultimate year of their ECMN training contract, regardless of the duration of prior RACP training completed.
Our professional development program aims to broaden trainees' skills beyond clinical medicine, with sessions covering leadership, supervision of junior medical officers, communication, curriculum vitae preparation and interview skills. There are also significant opportunities to become involved in teaching and research through the network's strong affiliation with the University of New South Wales.
