Job Description

Who you are

You are an experienced Australian systems specialist with at least three years of experience and a strong understanding of workforce management, payroll processes, compliance obligations and the real-world impact of payroll accuracy. You take pride in delivering accurate, timely outcomes, and you are detail-oriented without losing sight of the bigger picture and approaching broader problem-solving conversations.

Your experience may come from system implementation and/or payroll BAU, consulting or a broader HR background with deep payroll exposure. You may have supported system implementations, testing, data validation or go-live activities. What matters most is solid payroll capability, sound professional judgement and a genuine focus on Customer outcomes.

You communicate clearly, stay calm under pressure and are comfortable working independently in a remote environment while contributing to a high-performing team.

Key responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply awards, EBAs and legislative requirements with accuracy and confidence
  • Perform detailed reconciliations, compliance reviews and exception analysis to protect payroll integrity
  • Analyse and transform large payroll datasets, identifying anomalies, trends and root causes
  • Contribute to HRIS system implementations, including design, requirements and system audits
  • Partner with clients during go-live activities, optimisation of their systems and issue resolution
  • Produce clear documentation, reporting and control frameworks aligned to best practice
  • Advise stakeholders on WFM & Payroll risk, compliance and process improvements
  • Collaborate with clients and delivery teams to drive consistent, high‑quality outcomes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across payroll operations and system capability

What success looks like

You will be successful in this role if you consistently:

  • Deliver accurate and compliant payroll outcomes in complex environments
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Proactively identify risks and implement practical solutions
  • Contribute positively to team capability and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrate accountability, sound judgement and ownership of outcomes

About you ( Must have )

  • Minimum 3+ years Australian payroll experience in complex environments
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, awards and compliance obligations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex payroll calculations with accuracy and sound judgement
  • Confidence analysing large datasets, performing reconciliations and working with advanced spreadsheet formulas
  • Experience working with Payroll, Time & Attendance, WFM, HCM or HRIS systems
  • Ability to identify risk, resolve discrepancies and operate with accountability
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including confidence engaging with stakeholders
  • Comfort working independently in a remote environment while maintaining delivery standards
  • Full working rights in Australia

Highly regarded

  • Experience in consulting or multi‑client environments
  • Involvement in testing, parallel runs, cutover or go‑live activities
  • Experience with, or certification in one or more payroll or workforce platforms, e.g. Dayforce, UKG, SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central, Workday, ADP, Employment Hero or similar
  • Experience contributing to process improvement initiatives
  • Ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into payroll or system outcomes
  • Tertiary education in Information Technology, Business, or an equivalent related field.
