About Mc Nab

We're looking for a Business Development Manager with deep knowledge of the NSW commercial construction market to continue strengthening our Sydney presence.

We're one of Australia's largest construction, development and property groups, with a turnover of over $1 billion.

But don't let our size fool you—we've retained the small company DNA that puts people first.

We're about making life easier for our people, clients and contract partners. We deliver certainty in an uncertain industry, and everything we do centres on our promise:

We genuinely care. We make it easy. We deliver certainty.

About the role

As our local relationship and business development lead, you'll work closely with our Sydney leadership team and supported by our South East Queensland team, to build our network, identify opportunities and connect the right people across the Mc Nab Group.

You'll develop relationships and progress opportunities, involving the relevant specialists to lead delivery while you maintain the relationship and identify further opportunities.

Your main areas of focus will include

  • Continue to grow our group supply businesses: Identify opportunities for construction supply businesses owned by the Mc Nab Group to supply products and accessories to builders, developers and trade contractors.
  • Strengthen subcontractor and supplier relationships: Expand our local network to support Mc Nab's construction projects and broader Group businesses, connecting our teams with capable partners.
  • Identify broader Group opportunities: Build market awareness, attend industry events and generate introductions for new business and partnerships.
  • Develop and deliver a business development plan focused on the NSW market.
  • Meet regularly with construction leaders, procurement teams and industry contacts to understand upcoming projects, purchasing needs and opportunities.
  • Promote the products and capabilities of our group supply businesses, including reinforcing mesh, tapware, bathroom fixtures, drainage products and construction accessories.
  • Generate qualified leads and coordinate proposals and commercial discussions with the relevant business teams.
  • Develop subcontractor and supplier connections that support tendering, procurement and project delivery.
  • Share project leads, market intelligence and introductions with Construction leadership team.
  • Maintain a clear opportunity pipeline, coordinate effective handovers and stay connected to support ongoing relationships.

About you

You're a local industry expert who understands the NSW commercial construction market and enjoys building relationships that lead to commercial outcomes.

You're comfortable representing several businesses, understanding what each offers and recognising where they can meet a customer's needs.

You'll bring

  • Proven business development or sales experience within construction supply, manufacturing, commercial subcontracting or commercial building.
  • Strong knowledge of the NSW market, including its procurement practices, project pipeline and the needs of builders, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • A track record of personally generating opportunities and converting them into sales, secured work or valuable partnerships.
  • An understanding of how builders tender, procure and select their supply and subcontract partners.
  • The curiosity and commercial judgement to identify opportunities across different products, services and Group businesses.
  • Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills, supported by consistent follow-through.
  • A collaborative approach, working closely with specialists to progress opportunities and deliver on commitments.
  • Mc Nab benefits
  • Birthday leave: Celebrate your special day on us.
  • Social Club and team events: Connect with colleagues through regular social activities.
  • Annual health and fitness subsidy: Support your health and wellbeing.
  • Parental leave program: Support through life's important milestones.
  • Employee Assistance Program: Access support whenever you need it.
  • Tailored development opportunities: Build your capability through training and development suited to your career goals.

This is an opportunity to build our NSW network, contribute to growth across the Group and work alongside a team that values your local industry expertise and ability to bring people together.
