The Role
We’re looking for mechanically minded Assembly Technicians to join our manufacturing and assembly team at Wetherill Park. This is a hands-on role assembling hydraulic cylinders and other mining components, working alongside experienced Fitters who will provide practical training, technical guidance and support. You’ll be using hand tools, workshop equipment and assembly techniques to put components together accurately and safely, while developing your skills and confidence along the way. We’re looking for people who enjoy practical work, take pride in doing a good job and are keen to learn. You don’t need to be a qualified tradesperson, but some mechanical or workshop experience and a willingness to get stuck in will go a long way.
What you’ll be doing:
- Assembly hydraulic cylinders and other mining components using hand tools and workshop equipment.
- Follow engineering drawings, work instructions and assembly procedures, with guidance and training where needed.
- Prepare components, tools and work areas to ensure jobs are ready for assembly.
- Carry out routing quality checks and identify any issues that need attention.
- Work alongside experienced Fitters, learning new assembly techniques and developing your practical skills.
- Complete basic job records and production documentation.
- Work safely with heavy components, using appropriate lifting equipment and handling methods.
- Contribute to a clean, organised and efficient workshop.
What you’ll bring:
- Good mechanical aptitude and an interest in hands-on assembly work.
- Experience in manufacturing, mechanical assembly, automotive, trade assistant or similar practical work would be an advantage.
- Confidence using hand tools and workshop equipment, or a willingness to learn.
- Good attention to detail and pride in producing quality work.
- The physical strength and dexterity needed to safely handle components and undertake manual assembly tasks.
- A reliable, safety-conscious approach and willingness to work as part of a team.
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn and openness to feedback.
- Experience with hydraulic cylinders or mining equipment would be an advantage, but it’s not essential.
- We’re equally interested in people with transferable mechanical skills who are keen to learn something new.
