At Marand Precision Engineering, we’re welcoming applications from technically capable CNC machinists looking to move into machinery maintenance, as well as experienced maintenance professionals.

Your understanding of milling, turning, grinding, machine accuracy and machining performance could provide a strong foundation for this role. You’ll apply that knowledge to diagnosing problems, identifying corrective actions and keeping advanced CNC equipment operating reliably.

Working with machining centres supporting aerospace and defence programs for organisations including Lockheed Martin, Boeing and BAE Systems, you’ll contribute directly to equipment performance and production capability.

Why consider the Move?

  • Build on your machining experience and develop your skills in machinery maintenance and reliability.
  • Enjoy varied, hands-on work, from investigating faults to servicing equipment and improving performance.
  • Work with advanced CNC technology in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Expand your technical career with ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • Earn excellent hourly rates, with overtime opportunities.
  • Join a friendly, highly skilled team within a stable Australian-owned company.
  • Enjoy monthly BBQs and an active social club.

The Opportunity

As part of our Maintenance Team, you’ll help maintain, repair and improve CNC machinery and production equipment across the facility. This role will suit someone who looks beyond the immediate machining issue and wants to understand its cause. You may already be the person colleagues turn to when a machine isn’t performing as expected, accuracy starts to drift or a technical problem needs investigating.

You’ll bring strong mechanical aptitude, sound technical judgement and a methodical approach to problem-solving, with a genuine interest in developing your maintenance expertise.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Maintain, service and repair CNC machinery and associated production equipment.
  • Investigate machine faults and performance issues, identify root causes and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, working with qualified electrical specialists where required.
  • Respond to breakdowns and help minimise production downtime.
  • Support precision alignment, calibration and recommissioning following repairs and servicing.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and identify improvements that reduce recurring faults.
  • Use manual lathes, mills and grinders to support maintenance and repair work.
  • Assist with spare parts, suppliers, contractors and accurate maintenance records.
  • Complete all work with a strong focus on safety, quality and equipment reliability.

About You

You could be an experienced CNC machinist, fitter and turner, mechanical fitter or maintenance technician who enjoys practical technical work and wants to develop further in machinery maintenance. You'll also bring:

  • A relevant trade qualification in machining, fitting and turning, mechanical fitting or an equivalent discipline.
  • Strong hands-on experience with CNC machinery and a sound grounding in milling, turning and/or grinding.
  • An understanding of machine operation, tooling, tolerances and the factors that affect machining accuracy and performance.
  • The ability to interpret technical information, investigate problems logically and identify practical corrective actions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and confidence working with precision machinery.
  • A proactive approach, willingness to learn and genuine interest in maintenance.
  • A strong commitment to safe working practices, quality and teamwork.

Additional Requirements:

Due to the nature of our work and the requirements of our customers, all applicants may be required to hold Australian citizenship and need to meet ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and/or EAR (Export Administration Regulations) compliance as part of employment eligibility.
