Government & Funding Partnerships Manager

Government partnerships and funding growth opportunity | Purpose-led organisation | Drive government engagement and strategic funding outcomes across Australia

Many Rivers is seeking an experienced, proactive and relationship-focused Government and Funding Partnerships Manager to identify, progress and secure government and strategic funding opportunities that support the organisation's growth, sustainability and impact.

This role is ideal for a professional with strong experience in government funding, grants, procurement, stakeholder engagement or public policy who is motivated by purpose and skilled at turning opportunities into funded partnerships. You will play a key role in expanding Many Rivers' revenue pipeline through government relationships, funding submissions, business case development and evidence-based funding propositions.

About Many Rivers

Many Rivers is a national for-purpose organisation providing accessible business development support, community economic development services, pro-bono legal advice and microfinance business loans. Its work helps people build sustainable livelihoods and contribute to stronger local economies.

Guided by Care, Respect and Accountability, Many Rivers creates lasting impact for clients, families and communities across Australia, with a focus on Indigenous Australians and regional, rural and remote communities.

The Opportunity

This role is open to candidates located in either Sydney or Brisbane, with flexible hybrid working arrangements.

Reporting to the Head of Revenue and Partnerships, the Government and Funding Partnerships Manager will independently identify, shape and progress priority government and strategic funding opportunities across Commonwealth, State and Territory jurisdictions.

Working closely with the Revenue and Partnerships team, Finance, Marketing and program leaders, you will develop compelling funding propositions, prepare high-quality submissions and business cases, maintain strong stakeholder relationships and manage a qualified funding pipeline that supports organisational revenue targets and strategic priorities.

This role suits a highly motivated professional who enjoys working autonomously, building trusted relationships, interpreting policy and funding environments, and converting opportunities into tangible outcomes that deliver lasting community impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with Commonwealth, State and Territory government agencies, policy stakeholders and funding partners.
  • Identify, assess and progress government grants, procurement opportunities, service delivery contracts and strategic funding opportunities.
  • Monitor policy, funding and budget developments to identify emerging opportunities and risks.
  • Prepare high-quality government funding submissions, proposals and business cases that align with funder requirements and organisational priorities.
  • Develop funding models, budgets and commercial assumptions in partnership with Finance and program teams.
  • Leverage impact data, evaluation findings and evidence frameworks to strengthen funding propositions and stakeholder engagement.
  • Maintain an accurate funding pipeline and revenue forecasts through effective CRM management and reporting.
  • Identify and manage funding, contracting and delivery risks while ensuring compliance with relevant government funding requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively across Revenue and Partnerships, Finance, Marketing and operational teams to deliver successful funding outcomes.

About You

You are a commercially minded and purpose-driven professional with demonstrated success securing government funding, grants, procurement opportunities or strategic partnerships. You combine strong analytical skills with excellent relationship management and the ability to translate complex policy, evidence and funding requirements into compelling proposals.

You are confident engaging senior stakeholders, preparing high-quality written submissions and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Most importantly, you are motivated by creating positive social and economic outcomes for communities across Australia.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in public policy, business, commerce, economics, social sciences, government relations or a related discipline; or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated success securing government grants, procurement opportunities or service delivery contracts.
  • Experience developing complex funding propositions, submissions and business cases.
  • Strong understanding of Commonwealth, State and Territory funding ecosystems, including grants, procurement and commissioning frameworks.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with experience preparing high-quality funding submissions, reports and business cases.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, particularly within government, funding and partnership environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse policy, funding and impact data to identify opportunities and develop strategic recommendations.
  • Experience with CRM systems, pipeline management and revenue forecasting.
  • Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to develop funding models, budgets and implementation approaches.
  • Strong alignment with Many Rivers' values of Care, Respect and Accountability and commitment to addressing disadvantage in Australia.

Why Join Many Rivers?

  • Purpose-led work with direct social and economic impact.
  • Not-for-profit salary packaging.
  • Professional development support and a 5-day annual conference.
