If you are early in your HR career, looking to build broad, hands‑on experience in a professional environment, this is a great opportunity to develop your capability across the full employee lifecycle.
As part of our newly designed HR model, you'll specialise in different stages of the employee lifecycle before rotating into new areas, building experience across people queries, processes and employee experiences. This 12-month contract provides a strong foundation for a broad HR career and prepares you to progress into more complex advisory and partnering opportunities.
We are Mallesons, a top-tier independent firm from Australia, a full-service firm trusted on the most complex and consequential matters across our region and around the world. We've been part of Australia's story for almost 200 years and acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional owners and custodians of these lands and waters.
With flexibility to be based in the Sydney or Melbourne CBD office, as part of the wider national People & Development (P&D) team, you will join the P&D Hub. The P&D Hub is the firm's central, single source of truth for P&D services. It brings together our core processes and supports the full employee lifecycle.
Our P&D Coordinators operate as a single, connected cohort ensuring a consistent and high-quality service across the firm. Our Coordinators are intentionally aligned to the stages of the employee lifecycle, enabling a deeper understanding of movements impacting our people, having a constant focus on continuous improvement and providing opportunities for stretch and building deep relationships.
Reporting to the Senior P&D Projects Manager, and working very closely with the People Advisory and Strategy team, key responsibilities will include:
- Allocation to an employee lifecycle process on a rotational basis. This includes onboarding, parental leave and leave of absence, flexible working arrangements and departers including change of employment letters, emails, system updates, communication between P&D and client groups.
- Supporting the People Advisory and Strategy team with the employee life cycle through executing movements, keeping our HRIS tool, Workday, and Jira accurate and up to date.
- Ensuring that the administrative accountabilities, such as movements relating to the employee lifecycle are accurately adhered to in line with policies and checklist procedures e.g. updating all data relating to commencements, terminations, leave of absence, secondments and relocations. Ensure employee electronic files are accurate and kept up to date.
- When appropriate, holding responsibility for triaging incoming work into the Hub through the P&D Operations mailbox, Jira and Workday. Assisting with general P&D inquiries concerning P&D related issues and request for information e.g. staff reports, policies, leave queries etc.
- Assisting the Areas of Specialisation and Advisory teams with a broad range of general P&D related activities e.g. Remuneration, Policy, and Learning & Development requirements.
