Job Description
Majestic Young Plants is a propagation nursery and horticultural company, supplying wholesale markets in Australia and internationally with high-quality plant material.
We are located in Healesville, Victoria, and are seeking an experienced Nurseryperson to grow on young plant crops and prepare orders for dispatch.
Responsibilities
- Growing on propagated crops through to sale, including spacing, trimming and crop timing
- Watering, irrigation and fertigation of crops in greenhouses and shadehouses
- Monitoring crops for pests, diseases and nutrient problems, and applying appropriate plant health and hygiene controls
- Plant selection and grading to quality standards
- Picking, grading, packing and labelling orders for dispatch
- Managing stock movement with our production scheduling system
- Preparing media, trays and containers
- Keeping accurate crop and dispatch records
- Operating nursery production machinery
- General cleaning duties
Requirements
- Certificate III in Nursery Operations or Production Horticulture, or at least 2 years’ experience in a nursery setting
- Knowledge of crop production and plant health
- Understanding of quality standards and grading
- Understanding of health and safety regulations
- Experience with nursery production machinery.
- A forklift licence and chemical users accreditation are desirable
- Literacy and numeracy skills, and proficiency in MS Office
