About the opportunity
Great Contracts administrators do more than manage paperwork. They spot risks early, negotiate well and understand how each commercial decision affects the project. Our client is seeking an experienced Contracts Administrator who can confidently manage their responsibilities, keep ahead of deadlines and help drive successful construction outcomes. Location can be either Brisbane North or on the Sunshine Coast.
About the role
Working closely with Project Managers and Site Managers, you will take ownership of the details that keep projects commercially sound and moving forward. Your responsibilities will include:
- Contract administration - Review head contracts, monitor obligations and prepare variations, extensions of time, delay notices and contract amendments.
- Subcontractor management - Scope and issue subcontract packages, complete subcontractor due diligence and coordinate timely execution of agreements.
- Claims and payments - Assess subcontractor progress claims, issue payment schedules within required timeframes and prepare client progress claims with the Project Manager.
- Cost control - Support budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting, monitor expenditure and identify practical opportunities to reduce costs.
- Procurement - Negotiate materials and services, issue purchase orders and manage deliveries and long lead items against the construction program.
- Project coordination - Keep site teams informed with current documentation and work with Project Managers to address risks, delays and potential disputes.
- Quality and compliance - Prepare project safety, quality and environmental documentation, review quality assurance records and support inspection and test plan and record processes.
About you
You are organised, commercially aware and comfortable taking responsibility for your work. You know when to act independently and when to bring an issue to the Project Manager. You will bring:
- Approximately 3–7 years’ construction contracts administration experience, ideally with a Tier 2 contractor or comparable builder.
- Please only apply if you have construction/building experience.
- Experience with Procore, Hammertech, Pro Cure or Jonas Premier advantageous.
- The ability to manage your workload independently and follow matters through to completion.
- Strong working knowledge of head contracts, subcontracts, variations, extensions of time and progress claims.
- Confidence in cost forecasting, procurement and supplier and subcontractor negotiations.
- A proactive approach to identifying commercial risks and resolving issues.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to build productive relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and site teams.
- Familiarity with WHS requirements, ISO procedures and construction quality documentation.
What's on offer:
- Exposure to varied project types, from refurbishments to specialist remedial works.
- Convenient locations - either Brisbane North or Sunshine Coast.
- Social culture with monthly BBQ's.
- A supportive, close-knit team with a clear career pathway.
