Mechanical Fitter / Boilermaker - Fixed Plant Leading Hand
Mader Group is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter or Boilermaker to step into a Leading Hand role at a busy Waste Management & Recycling Facility in New Chum, Queensland.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on tradesperson looking to combine technical expertise with leadership responsibility. You'll play a key role in maintaining and improving a diverse range of fixed plant equipment while supporting the day-to-day performance of the maintenance team.

About the Role
As a Fixed Plant Leading Hand, you will provide frontline leadership while working alongside the maintenance team to ensure plant reliability and operational efficiency. Your responsibilities will include planned maintenance, breakdown response, equipment upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support a team of tradespeople and contractors on site
Perform maintenance, fault-finding, and repairs on fixed plant equipment
Execute preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing activities
Maintain and repair conveyors, shredders, screens, pumps, gearboxes, and recycling plant machinery
Coordinate and assist with plant shutdowns, upgrades, and installations
Drive safe work practices and ensure compliance with site procedures
Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and plant performance
Maintain a safe, clean, and productive work environment
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or Boilermaker
Previous experience within fixed plant, recycling, manufacturing, quarrying, or heavy industrial environments
Demonstrated leadership or Leading Hand experience
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Current Australian Driver's Licence
Full Australian working rights
Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening
A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to safety
