M

Base salary from $88,670 - $100,815 per annum plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading. Full-time continuing role. Based on-site at Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde.

Every lecture, lab session, research breakthrough and quiet study hour at Macquarie happens somewhere. Our Property Office plans, designs, delivers and maintains the buildings and spaces that make all of it possible. We are looking for a Junior Architect to join the Planning and Design team at the point where ideas become floor plans. This is a hands‑on early‑career role for someone who enjoys turning a brief into a workable design solution. You will prepare test fits and CAD documentation, help coordinate decants, relocations and refurbishment projects, and contribute to the design standards that guide how space is used across the University. You will work alongside experienced planners, designers and project managers who will give you exposure to a genuinely varied portfolio – from small refurbishments to major projects reshaping the campus landscape.

About the Role

  • Assist in the planning, coordination and delivery of decants, relocations and refurbishment projects
  • Help coordinate activities and tasks across multiple projects within the Planning and Design team
  • Work with the Planning and Design Officer and Design Coordinator to produce test fits
  • Prepare CAD drawings, test fits and related documentation for the Planning team
  • Contribute to reporting and data visualisation of space utilisation across the University
  • Assist with developing, implementing and monitoring CAD design standards and procedures that meet client needs
  • Assist Project and Asset Management with drawing and documentation requirements, and provide CAD assistance for the effective functioning of the Archibus system

  • Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality when completing tasks
  • Proven ability to work both self‑sufficiently and as part of a team, with well‑developed communication skills and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Essential: experience with design and modelling software
