Our Quantitative Strategy team within Commodities and Global Markets is seeking an Engineering Lead to lead a small, high-calibre team of half a dozen software engineers embedded with the APAC Gas, Power and Carbon trading desk in Sydney. The team builds risk management tools and software solutions that support the desk's day-to-day activity and unlock new revenue-generating opportunities across the diverse power, gas and carbon markets in which the business is active throughout the Asia Pacific region.
You will partner closely with traders and the wider APAC Gas, Power and Carbon business to understand their needs and translate them into well-scoped technology solutions. You will lead, manage and develop a team of four to five software engineers, setting priorities, supporting career growth and maintaining a high-performing, collaborative culture. You will have oversight of the design, development and delivery of risk management tools, pricing and analytics models, trading software, and energy market systems that support physical gas and power scheduling and client servicing. You will be tasked with identifying and developing new opportunities for revenue generation across APAC power, gas and carbon markets through technical innovation. You will work with the global Quantitative Strategy group, including the London-based leadership, to align priorities, share best practice and leverage common frameworks and infrastructure. You will ensure strong standards of code quality, risk management and controls, and work with risk, technology and other support functions as required.
The successful candidate will sit on the trading floor alongside the APAC Gas, Power and Carbon business to ensure close collaboration and rapid iteration with the desk, while reporting into the global Quantitative Strategy structure.

- Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring technical teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to work directly with traders and collaborate effectively with global colleagues.
- A commercial mindset, with the ability to prioritise work that drives business value.
