We are seeking a skilled and motivated clinician to deliver Multisystemic Therapy (MST), an evidence-based, intensive, family-focused intervention that works with young people with complex behavioural needs and their families. MST is a well-researched, community-based treatment model designed to support families to safely maintain children at home and prevent out-of-home care. This program is funded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing as part of Restoring Families (previously Family Preservation and Reunification Response).

The therapist role is central to the MST model. Key responsibilities include:

  • Comprehensive assessment
  • Intervention planning
  • Collaborative safety planning with families, young people, and other key service providers

The therapist will work as part of a multidisciplinary MST team and participate in weekly supervision and consultation to support clinical decision-making and model fidelity. This is an Ongoing Full Time role within the North Metro region, with team members based in NEMA and Hume Merribek LGAs. Travel across these areas is required.

Key selection criteria:

  • A Masters degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated clinical experience working with young people and families with complex needs
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, and participate in a rotating on-call roster

Highly regarded experience includes:

  • Delivering evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, Strategic Family Therapy, or other behaviourally informed approaches
  • Applying child development knowledge to assessment and intervention
  • Managing complex casework involving trauma, risk, and multi-system involvement
  • Working with families impacted by mental health challenges and/or family violence
