Our purpose is to provide quality, cost effective legal services to financially disadvantaged people throughout Queensland. We embrace diversity, flexibility, learning and continuous improvement to deliver quality legal services. The work is challenging but rewarding - and that is why staff wellbeing and work/life balance are a top priority for us.
About the role
In this rewarding role, you will deliver high-quality legal advice and practical assistance to clients across Queensland, helping people navigate complex legal issues and understand their options. Working across phone, videoconference and face-to-face channels, you will provide clear advice, prepare letters and submissions, connect clients with the right support services, and build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the justice system. You will also play an important part in supporting and guiding colleagues, contributing to merit assessments for grants of aid, and helping shape legal resources, policy, law reform and service delivery initiatives that improve access to justice.
About you

This role would suit someone who has knowledge of the practice and procedure of family, criminal and/or civil law and can independently provide legal information and advice in these areas. You will also bring:
- knowledge of relevant legal practice, procedure and ethical standards;
- clear, concise and articulate communication skills;
- the ability to prepare comprehensive, evidence-based written submissions, documents and resources;
- the ability to tailor your communication style to different audiences, including clients with complex needs, using trauma-informed practice principles.
As a member of the Legal Aid Queensland Community, you will receive:
- A 36.25 hour working week (full time hours)
- Generous salary packaging
- Employer super contributions of 12.75%
- Study leave for approved work-related courses.
