The Opportunity:

This role gives you the mandate to shape a technology environment. You'll join a diversified critical infrastructure group in northern Australia, operating across complex, asset-intensive environments where technology resilience, security, and architectural decisions directly impact business operations. Over the past 12 months, the technology function has undergone a significant transformation with a new strategy, new operating model, and a board-approved two-year investment roadmap. The focus shifts to building the architecture and cybersecurity capabilities that support the next phase of growth.

Reporting directly to the CTO, you'll own enterprise architecture and cybersecurity across the group, set technology standards, guide investment decisions, and strengthen security across critical infrastructure operations. This is a rare opportunity to combine enterprise-wide architecture ownership with genuine accountability for cyber resilience, working closely with senior executives to shape how technology supports the business.

What You'll Own:

  • Enterprise Architecture: Define the architecture strategy, technology roadmaps and design standards across applications, infrastructure, cloud and enterprise platforms.
  • Cybersecurity: Lead security strategy, operations and incident response, strengthening the group's ability to prevent, detect and respond to cyber threats.
  • Risk & Compliance: Own security governance, risk management and regulatory compliance across Essential Eight, NIST, ISO 27001 and SOCI obligations.
  • Technology Leadership: Chair the Architecture Review Board, oversee solution design and work with business leaders and external partners on secure, scalable technology investments.

What You'll Bring:

  • Senior experience across enterprise or solution architecture and cybersecurity, ideally within critical infrastructure, aviation, transport, utilities, energy or other asset-heavy environments.
  • Strong architectural capability across modern enterprise platforms, cloud, infrastructure and security, with TOGAF or equivalent qualifications.
  • Deep knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, security operations, incident management and regulatory compliance, particularly Essential Eight, NIST, ISO 27001 and SOCI.
  • Commercial judgment and executive credibility, with experience influencing technology investment, managing vendors and translating technical risk into business decisions.
  • Based in Darwin or Cairns, or open to relocating.
