Put your skills to work in a hands-on role supporting the teams who deliver for our community. Make a local impact by connecting our works teams with the resources they need to deliver for Lake Mac. Lead a team and bring your procurement, supplier relationships and resource planning skills together in one varied role. Enjoy work-life balance with 35 hours across a four-day work week, giving you more time for life outside work.
As part of our City Construction Resources Team, you’ll coordinate the people, plant and materials that keep Council operations moving. From allocating Council and contracted labour to arranging small plant hire and purchasing bulk materials, you’ll balance changing priorities and help our works teams get what they need when they need it. You’ll manage labour services contracts, support tender processes and oversee procurement activities from requisition through to receipt and invoice checks. Working closely with suppliers, contractors and internal teams, you’ll negotiate supply timeframes, find alternatives when plans change and maintain accurate compliance and quality assurance records.
You’re an organised, practical problem-solver who enjoys bringing people and resources together. Comfortable working in a busy operational environment, you can prioritise competing requests, keep accurate records and meet tight deadlines without losing sight of customer service. You communicate clearly, build productive relationships and negotiate solutions with people across the organisation and beyond. As a team leader, you support staff development and create a positive workplace where people work together.
You must also meet the following criteria:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, such as a Certificate IV in Business Administration, Procurement and Contracting or Supply Chain Operations, or equivalent experience and qualifications in resourcing, procurement, allocation, hire or administration.
- Proven leadership and people management skills, including developing and motivating staff and fostering strong team relationships.
- Strong procurement experience across procurement-to-payment processes, purchase requisitions and processing invoices approved for payment.
- Experience ensuring tendered contractors meet compliance and audit requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately plan, prioritise, process and track a high volume of activities to meet tight operational deadlines.
- Well-developed skills in Microsoft Office and corporate procurement and records management systems.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to reach agreed outcomes with internal and external stakeholders.
- A demonstrated commitment to high-quality customer service and maintaining customer relationships.
- An understanding of civil works products and equipment, along with experience working in a publicly accountable environment, would be an advantage.
