Turn property potential into lasting value for Lake Macquarie. We’re looking for a commercially minded property development leader to shape Council’s portfolio, unlock new opportunities and guide a specialist team through acquisitions, divestments and development projects that deliver strong business and community outcomes.

As Property Development Coordinator, you will lead Council’s Property Development team and take a strategic, commercial approach to managing our operational property holdings. You will identify and progress acquisition, divestment and redevelopment opportunities that improve the efficiency and value of the portfolio while supporting Council’s broader strategic objectives. You will coordinate projects across the full development cycle, from site selection, due diligence and feasibility through planning approvals, procurement, construction, contract administration and eventual sale. Alongside managing budgets, consultants and contractors, you will build a high-performing team culture, strengthen stakeholder relationships and encourage fresh thinking, continuous improvement and service excellence.

You are an experienced commercial property professional who sees opportunity, understands the numbers and knows how to turn sound ideas into viable outcomes. You bring a strong business mindset, confidently balance commercial and community considerations and can lead specialists through complex projects and changing priorities. You will have extensive commercial property development experience and demonstrated success leading and developing specialist teams. Whether your experience has been gained in local government or the private sector, you will be confident navigating statutory requirements relating to land dealings and property administration.

You must also meet the following criteria:

  • Degree qualifications in property or related discipline and extensive experience in leading and managing a team of specialists.
  • Extensive experience in the preparation of development feasibility studies, as well as the coordination of land subdivision and property development projects.
  • Well-developed knowledge of statutory provisions as they relate to Council land dealings and local government property administration.
  • Experience in managing and motivating teams and creating or contributing to a culture where people feel supported experimenting and testing new ideas.
  • Well-developed presentation skills with experience presenting to a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and extensive experience leading project teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in acquiring land or interests in land in accordance with the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991.
  • Hold a current and valid NSW Class C Drivers Licence.

Competitive salary from $132,740 - $154,266 a year plus 12% superannuation. 35 hours per week, working across a 9-day fortnight. Work a mixture of office, on site and from home. Long Service leave after 5 years. We value your health and wellbeing and offer generous, discounted gym memberships through our Corporate Fitness program, connect with colleagues through our social club, be inspired by regular wellbeing initiatives, annual flu vaccinations, and confidential support via our employee assistance (EAP) program. Free parking within walking distance of our office building.
