Quality Assurance Officer (QA Officer)
LA Services | Revesby, NSW
About Us
L&A Pressure Welding Pty Ltd, trading as LA Services, is a family-owned Australian engineering and manufacturing business based in Revesby.
Established in 1981, we deliver engineered-to-order pressure equipment, piping, fabrication and project solutions across the energy, water, chemical and infrastructure sectors.
Our projects move through engineering, procurement, workshop manufacture and site installation, creating a varied environment where quality, traceability and compliance are essential.
We operate under certified ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and AS/NZS ISO 3834 Part 2 management systems.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Quality Assurance Officer to support the quality and compliance requirements across our business.
Working closely with our QHSE Engineer, Project Managers, Engineers and Workshop team, you will help ensure our projects meet customer specifications, applicable standards and internal quality requirements.
A key part of this role is managing and compiling Manufacturing Data Records (MDRs), ensuring documentation is collected, maintained and completed as projects progress.
You will also support material and weld traceability, inspection documentation and the ongoing maintenance of our quality, environmental and WHS management systems.
This is a practical role for someone who enjoys working with people, systems and technical documentation, and takes pride in getting the details right.
What You'll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and compiling Manufacturing Data Records (MDRs) from project commencement through to final customer handover
- Maintaining material and weld traceability records, including material certificates, weld maps and associated documentation
- Ensuring required inspection reports, test records, qualifications and approvals are available and complete
- Preparing and maintaining Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality registers and project documentation
- Reviewing customer specifications and ensuring project documentation meets contractual requirements
- Supporting the maintenance of our ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and AS/NZS ISO 3834 quality and compliance systems
- Assisting with internal and external audits, non-conformances and corrective actions
- Maintaining document control, calibration records and compliance registers
- Working with Project Managers, Engineers, Workshop personnel and suppliers to follow up outstanding documentation
- Helping improve quality processes, record keeping and compliance across the business
About You
We are looking for someone who understands the importance of quality and documentation in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
You will be organised, comfortable managing several priorities and confident working with engineers, tradespeople, supervisors and customers.
You will ideally bring:
- Experience in quality assurance, compliance or technical document control
- Experience preparing MDRs, quality dossiers or manufacturing handover documentation
- An understanding of ISO management systems and quality requirements
- Familiarity with material traceability, welding documentation and manufacturing inspection records
- The ability to understand engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and good computer skills
- Good communication skills and the confidence to follow up outstanding requirements
- A current Australian driver's licence and full Australian working rights
Experience with pressure vessels, piping, welding or industrial fabrication would be highly regarded.
Formal quality, engineering or auditing qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential for someone with the right practical experience.
Who Could This Role Suit?
We are open to candidates from several backgrounds.
You may currently be working as a Quality Assurance Officer, Quality Coordinator, QA/QC Document Controller, Compliance Officer or Engineering Document Controller.
You may already have experience in manufacturing quality or project documentation and be looking for a role with greater responsibility and variety.
We are not necessarily looking for someone who has managed an entire quality system. We are looking for someone with the right attitude, organisational skills and technical understanding to grow into the position.
How the Role Fits
The Quality Assurance Officer works closely with and supports our Projects, Workshop and Site teams.
While the technical teams remain responsible for carrying out inspections, testing and manufacturing activities, this role ensures the associated compliance documentation is available, accurate and complete.
A major focus is keeping MDRs and quality records up to date throughout each project, rather than leaving documentation until the end.
What We're Looking For Personally
The right person will:
- Take ownership and follow things through
- Be organised and pay attention to the details
- Communicate clearly and be comfortable asking questions
- Be proactive in identifying missing documentation or compliance issues
- Work well with both workshop personnel and office teams
- Be practical, reliable and willing to learn
- Take pride in helping the business deliver quality work
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who understands that good quality assurance is about getting the details right, keeping things organised and ensuring our customers have confidence in what we deliver.
