Are you a curious, commercially minded Accountant who enjoys looking beyond the numbers to understand what really drives business performance?
Join a successful Australian food manufacturing business where your analytical skills, problem-solving abilities and willingness to get involved will make a genuine difference.
About Us
Established in 1988, La Casa Del Formaggio is a proudly Australian-owned business and one of Australia's leading manufacturers of premium fresh Italian cheeses.
Operating from our modern, purpose-built manufacturing facility in Edinburgh Park, South Australia, we have built our reputation on quality, innovation and a genuine passion for what we do.
As a Certified Great Place to Work, we are proud of our people-focused culture, strong values and commitment to continuous improvement. Our success is driven by our people, and we believe in creating opportunities for them to contribute, develop and grow.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a capable, adaptable and commercially curious Accountant to join our Finance team.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this is a diverse, hands‑on role offering exposure to both financial and operational aspects of a dynamic manufacturing business.
You will play an important role in delivering accurate financial reporting, investigating operational performance, supporting business decisions and continuously improving our financial processes.
This role is not for someone who simply enjoys producing reports. We are looking for someone who wants to understand the story behind the numbers, challenge the status quo and help find better ways of doing things.
Working closely with the Management Accountant and broader Finance team, you will also collaborate with Production, Sales, Procurement and Logistics, gaining valuable insight into how the business operates.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to monthly management accounts, financial reporting and performance analysis.
- Own the month-end closing process, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and timely completion.
- Investigate manufacturing variances, identify root causes and recommend practical improvements.
- Support inventory management, including stock movements, adjustments and write-offs.
- Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting and monitoring financial performance against targets.
- Provide hands‑on support and guidance to the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams.
- Maintain effective financial controls and support compliance requirements.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve reporting and strengthen financial insights.
- Participate in business improvement initiatives and special projects across the organisation.
About You
We are looking for more than technical accounting skills. The ideal candidate will be a resourceful problem solver, a genuine team player and someone who takes pride in delivering quality work.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- A recognised Accounting degree or equivalent qualification and relevant experience.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a natural curiosity to investigate and resolve issues.
- Excellent Excel skills and practical experience working with ERP systems.
- The ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to changing requirements and remain effective under pressure.
- A proactive, hands‑on approach and willingness to support colleagues across different finance functions.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- A genuine interest in understanding business operations and contributing to continuous improvement.
Highly regarded, but not essential:
- Experience gained in an accounting practice.
- At least two years' experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- CA/CPA qualification or progress towards accreditation.
- Experience with NetSuite ERP.
Above all, we value initiative, adaptability, accountability and a willingness to learn.
Why Join La Casa?
- A Great Place to Work: Join a recognised employer that values its people and their contributions.
- Meaningful Work: Be involved in more than traditional accounting, with genuine opportunities to influence business performance.
- Professional Development: Broaden your commercial and operational knowledge while working closely with experienced finance professionals.
