The Olympic and Paralympic Games (the Games) are the world’s largest and most prestigious sporting event. In 2032, Queensland will welcome the world to 29 history-making days of ceremony, festival and competition. With the plan set, it is now time to turn vision into reality and deliver an unparalleled Games for Brisbane, Queensland and Australia.
The Brisbane 2032 Board is seeking to appoint its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). With the Games Vision, Strategy and Plan in place and the Horizon One planning phase finalised, this defining leadership role will lead the organisation into Horizon Two: focused execution and delivery against immovable deadlines, with athletes at the heart of the events.
Working closely with the President, Organising Committee Board, Executive team, all levels of governments, IOC, IPC and Games Delivery Partners, the CEO will lead the organisation through project and event delivery, including:
- Preparing for and delivering a world‑class Games experience;
- A focus on the tasks needed to do so;
- Embedding the operational disciplines, processes, plans and metrics to meet all timelines and milestones with critical partners;
- Continuing to build out the organisation for delivery;
- Managing, leveraging and prioritising a large‑scale and complex P&L;
- Driving flawless execution across multiple venues and locations in a complex, fast‑moving environment.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned operator, manager of projects, and a proven “leader of leaders” who has led a highly complex, multi‑site business at scale ($10B+). They will bring keen project skills and financial and business acumen, an ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously, and a track record of building high performing teams that are focused on executing the plan.
A passionate believer in the Olympic and Paralympic mission, the CEO will be resilient, agile and unflappable under pressure, with gravitas, excellent communication skills, the highest integrity, and a balance of confidence and humility. This is a four‑year renewable contract based in Brisbane and applicants must have unrestricted rights to work in Australia. With a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, the Board encourages all qualified candidates to apply. The closing date for applications is 3 November 2026.
