Your Mission

We’re seeking an ambitious, passionate, and driven Operations Manager ready to take ownership, innovate fearlessly, and shape the future of our team. If you are a professional looking to test and elevate your technical capabilities within a high-stakes, process-oriented Major Hazard Facility (MHF) environment, this is your next move.

Driven by Our Core Values

  • Trust: Act with absolute integrity. Enforce uncompromised safety standards across all operations, especially when it’s tough.
  • Collaboration: Build seamless, cross-shift partnerships across terminal, engineering, and field teams to drive site-wide performance.
  • Courage: Step up, speak directly, and tackle compliance risks or operational bottlenecks on the spot.

Ready to Step into Site Leadership?

Vopak Terminals Darwin is seeking a dedicated and energetic Operations Manager to lead the safe and reliable day-to-day operations of our Darwin Terminal. This is a critical leadership role responsible for supervising a team of Operators and ensuring that every product transfer—whether internal or via shipping is executed to the highest global standards of safety and efficiency.

Field-Driven Leadership: Conduct terminal safety walkarounds and technical inspections, turning observation trends into sharp corrective actions through direct frontline engagement.

High-Value Risk Mitigation: Partner with technical job owners to build and support robust Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).

System Integrity & Tech: Act as the system champion for the Vopak Integrated Management System, leveraging advanced compliance software and automated data control tools to keep registers error-free.

Audit & Continuous Process Improvement: Prepare individual audit plans, execute analytical fieldwork, and actively update localized SHEQ procedures to optimise terminal workflows.

Culture & Capability: Facilitate WHSE committee workshops, coordinate emergency response simulations, and support targeted return-to-work / injury recovery paths.

Why you’ll love working with us

  • Financial Flexibility: Access to Novated Leasing packages to maximise your take-home value.
  • Health & Wellbeing: Full access to our comprehensive Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your family.
  • Social & Team Culture: A truly innovative and fun environment featuring regular team lunches, a highly collaborative atmosphere, and social milestone celebrations.
  • Growth & Progression: Professional Development and training programs to continuously stretch your technical toolkit.
  • Workplace Balance: Enjoy a highly stable and flexible workweek that respects your lifestyle inside and outside the gate.

Requirements

  • Leadership: 5 to 10 years of solid operational experience as a dedicated health, safety, and environment practitioner. Proven experience in team management is essential.
  • Industry Experience: Prior tenure inside a Major Hazard Facility (MHF), chemical refinery, utilities grid, or bulk liquid fuel storage asset network is highly prioritised. Experience in Tank Farming, Shipping, Petroleum, Oil & Gas, Construction, or heavy Manufacturing is highly regarded.
  • The Mindset: A self-starting motivated specialist comfortable managing independent site workloads, tracking data trends, and remaining steady during complex terminal scenarios.
  • Education: Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or Operations Management.
  • Attributes: Energetic, committed to delivery, and passionate about safety-critical environments.

Citizens and businesses everywhere can switch on the lights and go about their day, without ever having to wonder whether the energy is available. Vopak provides infrastructure solutions for storing the products that make it possible. But our tanks and terminals alone don’t get the job done. Our people do. That’s why we say: there is human energy inside.
