Looking for your next step in food production leadership? Are you an experienced Chef who enjoys working with people, keeping a busy kitchen running smoothly and seeing a team achieve great results together? At Kids Gourmet Food (KGF), you’ll have the opportunity to step into a hands‑on 2IC role, supporting our Shift Production Supervisor and helping lead our afternoon production and packaging team. This is a great opportunity to build your leadership experience while working in a fast-paced, structured food production environment — Monday to Friday, with no weekend work.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys being hands‑on and working as part of a team. You’ll be someone who can lead by example, motivate and support the team, keep production moving and help ensure the afternoon shift runs smoothly from start to finish. You’ll play an important role in:
- Motivating and supporting the production and packaging team.
- Allocating staff across production and packaging stations.
- Keeping the team focused and on track to meet daily production targets.
- Solving day‑to‑day production and staffing issues.
- Ensuring food is produced safely, consistently and to the required standard.
- Coaching and supporting team members as they learn and develop.
- Working hands‑on alongside the team.
- Finishing up the shift properly and set up ready for the morning team.

Every day, our team produces meals for childcare centres across Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. Based in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, our Brookvale (2100) headquarters is a fast-paced, hands‑on food production environment where great food and great teamwork come together. Our kitchen is a busy, high-volume operation where teamwork, clear communication and getting the job done right are essential. You’ll be part of a diverse team of chefs, kitchen hands and production staff, working together to keep our production running smoothly. You’ll be an important part of the team — helping create a positive, productive shift and supporting your colleagues to do their best work.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has a Trade Qualification in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
- Has previous experience as a Chef, Team Leader, Supervisor or in a similar role.
- Has experience in high‑volume food production, catering, hospitality or manufacturing.
- Has strong communication and organisational skills.
- Can stay calm, organised and focused in a busy environment.
- Understands food safety, hygiene and WHS requirements.
- Can safely lift and move items of up to 25kg on a regular basis.
