This is an opportunity to step into an Associate role where youβll have responsibility across projects, people and the day-to-day performance of a successful Sydney architecture practice. The studio works across multi-residential, defence, health and specialist accommodation projects, including environments designed to support recovery, safety and wellbeing. The work is meaningful, technically varied and gives you the chance to lead projects where design quality and practical delivery carry equal importance.
Youβll oversee projects from early design through documentation and construction, working directly with clients, consultants, authorities and contractors. Alongside project delivery, youβll help plan resources, monitor programmes and budgets, review technical quality and support Project Leaders when issues need senior input.
This is also a people-focused position. Youβll guide Architects, Technicians and Graduates, provide regular feedback and help create clear priorities across the team. The role suits someone who can maintain standards, make confident decisions and keep projects moving without creating unnecessary layers or process.
The Sydney practice has a team of around 18 and is led by two experienced, hands-on Directors. They have built the studio around trust, practical thinking and a zero-ego approach, giving senior staff the room to contribute ideas and take ownership of outcomes.
What makes this one worth considering:
- Genuine input into project planning, resourcing and studio operations
- Autonomy to make key project decisions with Director support when needed
- The chance to lead client relationships and become a trusted senior adviser
- Responsibility for budgets, programmes, deliverables and project performance
- An active role in mentoring staff and strengthening technical standards
- One day WFH with flexible start and finish times
This established architecture practice creates contemporary, people-focused buildings across housing, health, defence and specialist accommodation. Its work moves away from institutional design and focuses on practical, considered environments that improve how people live, recover and experience their surroundings.
The Directors previously held senior positions within large CBD practices and have used that experience to build a successful business with strong project momentum across NSW and Queensland. The studio has grown steadily for more than a decade while maintaining a down-to-earth culture where people are trusted to do their best work.
