Lead from the floor. Drive production. Develop your team leaders. Mesh & Bar is seeking an experienced, hands-on Afternoon Shift Supervisor to lead our afternoon shift in Glendenning across mesh, rebar and prefabricated products.
About the Role
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will lead three working team leaders across Light Bars, Heavy Bars and Loading. You will:
- Oversee daily production across rebar benders, shear lines and off-coil machines (MEP)
- Review production schedules, allocate tasks and ensure daily targets and KPIs are achieved
- Coordinate the staging of raw materials, including steel coils and bar stock, and ensure finished goods are correctly tagged and stored
- Monitor production flow, identify bottlenecks and troubleshoot operational or mechanical issues to minimise downtime
- Lead pre-shift toolbox talks and ensure all WHS, PPE and safety requirements are followed
- Identify and report hazards and support the investigation of incidents and near misses
- Supervise, coach and support machine operators, fabricators and material handlers
- Manage attendance, rosters, timesheets, performance and day-to-day team issues
- Ensure employees receive appropriate on-the-job training and cross-training
- Monitor product quality against engineering drawings, customer specifications and production requirements
- Address quality issues, including stopping production where required and supporting NCRs and corrective actions
- Complete detailed shift reports covering production output, maintenance requirements and labour hours
- Conduct a thorough handover with the morning shift supervisor and ensure outstanding issues are clearly communicated
- Ensure machinery is safely shut down and the facility is secure at the end of the shift
About You
- 3–5 years’ experience as a manufacturing supervisor or senior team leader
- Steel reinforcement or similar manufacturing experience
- Experience leading team leaders while staying active on the floor
- Ability to read bending schedules and production orders
- Strong understanding of WHS, plus basic computer and production system skills
Desirable:
- Machine operation experience
- LF Forklift Licence
- Gantry crane experience
- First Aid, and experience with ASA Systems
