The Opportunity
We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join an established Australian organisation and help build, connect and optimise the data workflows that support its marketing and customer platforms.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys owning technical solutions end-to-end.
You'll work across data integrations, automated workflows and production pipelines, ensuring information moves accurately and reliably between systems.
The role will suit a practical engineer who enjoys building solutions, solving data problems and improving the reliability of systems in a changing technology environment.
Experience in marketing technology or customer data is beneficial, but strong integration and data engineering skills are the priority.
- What You'll Be Doing
- Design, build and maintain data pipelines, system integrations and automated workflows.
- Manage data movement between platforms, including extraction, transformation, mapping, validation, enrichment and transmission.
- Build and maintain integrations using APIs, webhooks, event triggers, scripts and platform-native tools.
- Write SQL queries to transform, validate and troubleshoot data.
- Develop workflow logic and ensure data is accurate, consistent and fit for use.
- Monitor production workflows and resolve integration failures, data quality issues and performance problems.
- Improve reliability through logging, alerting, error handling, retries and ongoing optimisation.
- Work with technical and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical solutions.
- Maintain clear documentation around integrations, data flows and operational processes.
- Follow appropriate privacy, consent, security and data governance practices.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years' experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, data operations, integration engineering, martech or a related technical discipline.
- Proven experience owning production data pipelines, integrations, workflows or data activation solutions.
- Strong SQL skills and an understanding of data transformation, mapping and validation.
- Practical experience working with APIs, webhooks, automated workflows or event-driven integrations.
- An operational mindset, with experience monitoring production systems and troubleshooting issues.
- Strong attention to data quality, reliability, documentation and maintainability.
- The ability to work independently and take solutions from initial design through to implementation and ongoing support.
- Experience with CRM, CDP, marketing platforms, customer systems or digital analytics would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms, ETL/ELT tools, orchestration platforms or low-code/no-code integration tools is beneficial.
Why Consider This Role?
- Own solutions from design and build through to production support.
- Work on integrations connecting multiple customer and marketing platforms.
- Have the flexibility to use the right tools for the problem, including platform-native and automation solutions.
- Help improve data quality, operational reliability and the effectiveness of customer-facing systems.
- Work with a collaborative team on evolving technology and data initiatives.
